Cattlemen and women, Happy Holidays!  May the spirit of Christmas touch your life with peace, and your heart with joy, as we look forward to enjoying the balance of God’s creation in 2010!   We would like to thank, everyone, for the support and confidence in the Smith Farms Angus  program, for the many friendships, that reflect a kind understanding and a mutual respect, all of which have given us the opportunities for continued growth!  Twenty years ago the seeds for growth were introduced into our cow herd thru AI, every year we excitedly await the seeds’ growth to see all that is hidden within its’ complex genetic structure. It is with this excitement that, we look forward to our 10th Annual, Smith Farms Angus production sale, with “Red Highlights”! The sale will be held on Wednesday, January 27th, 2010, at the Sheridan Livestock Auction Barn, Located in Rushville, Nebraska, with the sale time being 1:20 p.m. MST.The bulls will be at the sale barn, ready for viewing, on Tuesday afternoon prior to the sale.  Ultrasound data will also be available at this time. There will be 80 head of yearling, Black and Red Angus bulls in the offering.Sires to be represented are: our herd sire TC Stout 407, Westwind Rito, Kahn Broadband,  MF Destroyer, SAV Mandan, Mytty In Focus, BC Marathon, HARB Pendleton, SAV Predominant,  OHRR Dakota Rambler.  ET calves sired by HA Power Alliance, Boyd Poundmaker, Leachman Gold Robber, OHRR Landslide, and Norseman King. Guest consignor, Huntrods Red Angus will also bring some Squall 230S sons for your assessment! We, at Smith Farms Angus, continue to work on the trait selections that benefit you, the producer.  There is no single trait that should have precedence over birth weight, calving ease, yearling weight, milk production, or longevity!  With this point in mind, we are very pleased to share with you the kill data from the heifer-mates to our 2009 sale bulls.  104 head of heifers graded 98% Prime/choice, with 69% CAB.  Awesome! As we’ve said in the past, you are more than welcome to come view the bulls here at home, or to spend some extra time looking at the females!  The coffee pot is still on!  We’re 9 miles south of Hay Springs, on Highway 87, turn at the rock.
