“Happy New Year”, some say they’re glad to see last year in their rear-view mirror, as it truly tested our fortitude!  As we optimistically look forward to this New Year, we hope you and yours have a great 2013!!!  We, at Smith Farms, are excited to host our first “Coming Home Sale” at our new sale barn facility.  This being where the bulls have been raised and developed, our hope is the new change will make the sale transition less stressful for all bovines and humans!

We have been fortunate to have the Sheridan Livestock Crew helping and supporting us to meet the new challenges that every production sale presented during the last twelve years.  Our decision, to host the sale at home, comes with the return of a second son and his family to our operation, and the excitement of having and enjoying all the grandchildren!

Smith Farms Angus, continues work within our herd, to produce exceptional quality cattle that help you move towards the goals of success set within your own cattle operations. We progressively work toward strong maternal traits, and top of the line feed conversion qualities to meet the demands placed on our herds with high input costs and a need for production of quality beef  products.
 
2013, Brings with it a Saturday, March 9th, sale date, accompanied by a DV Auction sale broadcast from the new sale site, with the bulls being penned outside, in sire groups for you inspection.  We have set the sale time for 2:00p.m.MST, we hope that a later start will help everyone in their rush to complete morning chores.  The bulls can be viewed, on the DVD web as well as on that of Smith Farms, and will be ready for viewing on Friday afternoon prior to the Saturday sale event.  Join us for conversation and refreshments Friday evening and lunch on sale day!

You will have the opportunity to evaluate a powerful set of top quality potential herd sires, from the 100 head of yearling, Black and Red Angus bulls in the 2013 offering!
Black Sires to be represented are:  our herd sires Gold Strike of PAR, SFA Dominate Coalition 901, BR New Frontier 7175, TC Stout 407, SFA Windy Bill 6450.  AI sires: heifer bulls by Pure Product, Crook Mt Windy 17, and Rick O Shay, as well as others by Basin Yellowstone and X-Factor.  Two, Net Worth 4200 sons out of Mytty In Focus’s Dam, are among the ET sires.
Red sires: Heifer bulls from Red U2 Infinite, Jackhammer, Norseman King, and Mulberry, also a group of Full Throttle sons from Huntrod Red Angus.

Sale Barn Location is one mile North of the Smith Farms Rock, on Hwy 87,  or (eight miles south of Hay Springs) turn East onto 490th Rd for one mile, then turn South ½ mile, you have arrived at a red and white Barn!

We, invite you to stop in at any time to check out the bulls.  Take some extra time, the steer and heifer mates as well as the cow herd aren’t far from the sale site either!

 “Happy New Year”, as we enter the 2012 realm, some things seem to follow us, and some are pulled along.  Those involved in agriculture are use to life’s changes and challenges.  The world economy and financial structure still deem our attention and adjustments. 

We, Smith Farms, are very excited and positive about the cattle industry!  We are responsible for helping feed the world, and food isn’t something that people can do without, as we ride out the recession.  The demand for our quality products will still be here and will continue to grow with world population.  We enjoy the excitement added to our operation by our sons and grandsons, (Talan & Evan), both have acquired a love for these bovine!!  Talan can already tell you the history of certain females by reading the number on the tag, although the Reds seem to be his favorites!!

 

Smith Farms Angus rides the complete circle of the cattle industry, from conception to the hanging rail, by relying on others to help find a balance for success.  By having a progressive seed-stock provider like Smith Farms Angus, we are able to help you move towards the goals of success set within your own operations.  We continue to work with proven genetics that will provide increased production for more pounds to sell at whatever segment of the industry you merchandise those pounds in.   We feel that feed efficiency within those genetics is becoming increasingly important with rising input costs.  Therefore, the culling and selection will become more critical than ever before.  You’ll be culling to control cost and making genetic selections to increase production.

There will be 100 head of yearling, Black and Red Angus bulls in the 2012, offering.

Black sires to be represented are: our herd sires Gold Strike (the number one feed efficiency bull at the 2010 Midland Bull Test), Dominate Coalition, BR New Frontier 7175, TC Stout 407.   AI sires: Basin Yellowstone, Mandan, X Factor, Pendleton, Rick O’Shay, HARB Efficient.

Red sires: Badlands Networth 23U, Gangster, Jackhammer, Fat Tony, Red Fine Line Mulberry, and   Get Western.

You will find uniformity and quality throughout the offering.  They are truly a powerful set of Angus bulls!

Our, guest consignor, Huntrods Red Angus will be represented by another strong set of very functional bulls for your assessment!

It is with this excitement that, we look forward to our 10^th Annual, Smith Farms Angus production sale, with “Red Highlights”! The sale will be held on Wednesday, January 27^th, 2010, at the Sheridan Livestock Auction Barn, Located in Rushville, Nebraska, with the sale time being 1:20 p.m. MST.The bulls will be at the sale barn, ready for viewing, on Tuesday afternoon prior to the sale.  Ultrasound data will also be available at this time. There will be 80 head of yearling, Black and Red Angus bulls in the offering.Sires to be represented are: our herd sire TC Stout 407, Westwind Rito, Kahn Broadband,  MF Destroyer, SAV Mandan, Mytty In Focus, BC Marathon, HARB Pendleton, SAV Predominant,  OHRR Dakota Rambler.  ET calves sired by HA Power Alliance, Boyd Poundmaker, Leachman Gold Robber, OHRR Landslide, and Norseman King. Guest consignor, Huntrods Red Angus will also bring some Squall 230S sons for your assessment! We, at Smith Farms Angus, continue to work on the trait selections that benefit you, the producer.  There is no single trait that should have precedence over birth weight, calving ease, yearling weight, milk production, or longevity!  With this point in mind, we are very pleased to share with you the kill data from the heifer-mates to our 2009 sale bulls.  104 head of heifers graded 98% Prime/choice, with 69% CAB.  Awesome! As we’ve said in the past, you are more than welcome to come view the bulls here at home, or to spend some extra time looking at the females!  The coffee pot is still on!  We’re 9 miles south of Hay Springs, on Highway 87, turn at the rock.
